Effect Of Variations Of The Leather Surface On Polymer Dispersion Finishes

Abstract

The investigations into the behaviour of polymer dispersion finishes on leather give little indication of the part played by the leather surface. It is shown that this is a significant factor and may be compounded of many properties of the leather, of which the most significant is the immediate water absorption property on the surface of the leather surface. Emphasis is also laid on the necessity for recording the amount of finish per square foot applied to the surface.
