A Novel Approach to the Assessment of the Level Dyeing Characteristics of Acid Dyes
Abstract
A method of comparing the level dyeing characteristics of acid dyes is described in which randomly selected pieces of leather are dyed together and the mean colour difference ΔE of the patterns determined using ANLAB space. The significance of the differences between dyes is analysed statistically. The use of the technique to study the effect of dyeing conditions on levelness is discussed.
