Henry Richardson Procter – His Life and Contributions to Science
Abstract
An outline of Professor Procter’s life and work is supported by detailed accounts of Procter’s contribution to the founding of the Department of Leather Industries at Leeds and the establishment in 1897 of the International Association of Leather Trades’ Chemists. The development of the Procter-Wilson theory of swelling is reviewed and extracts are recorded from the tributes paid to Procter in the Procter Memorial Issue of the Journal of the International Society of Leather Trades’ Chemists, 1928.
