The Kinetics Of Chrome Tannage Part IV.—General Discussion and Conclusions

Abstract

In Parts I to III of the present s1,e2rie3s detailed comparative studies of the kinetics of co-ordination to trivalent chromium ions of the carboxyl groups of the acetate radical and collagen were described. The effect of olation of the chromium ions on the rate of carboxyl group co-ordination was also studied by examining reaction rates in a reaction series prepared from boiled 0% and 334% basic chromium nitrate and chromium sulphate. In the present paper, general discussion of the implications of the experimental results is presented with special reference to the information obtained relating to reaction mechanism.
