Abstract

Measurements have been made of a number of physical properties of one or two chrome sides, and used to provide contour maps showing how the properties depend on location in the side. From measurements of bend ing moduli the stiffness in various directions was found and the directions of maximum and minimum stiffness. The contour maps for these quanti ties are complex. Measurements with other sides would be needed to discover the extent to which the complex patterns are reproduced in sides in general.
