The sulfonated and succinated lanolin acid fatliquoring agent was prepared from lanolin acid by amidation with diethanolamine, monoesterification with maleic anhydride and sulfonation with anhydrous sodium sulfite. Through single factor experiments, the optimised synthesis conditions were determined as follows: the temperature of amidation reaction was 135°C and the reaction time was 5 hours, the amidation yield could reach 94.4%. In the monoesterification reaction, the molar ratio of maleic anhydride to theoretical hydroxyl groups of the system was 1:1.1, the reaction temperature was 95°C and the reaction time was 2 hours, and the esterification rate could reach 86.1%. In the sulfonation reaction, the molar ratio of maleic anhydride to sodium sulfite was 1:1.05, the reaction temperature was 80°C and the reaction time was 3 hours. Under the optimised conditions, the yield of product could reach 94.9%, and the structures were characterised by FTIR spectrum.
