Study on the Improvement of Leather Air Permeability with WPU Adhesive Based on Gelatin Grafting

Abstract

Hydroxy modified gelatin (GOH) was prepared by a Van Slyke reaction, and three kinds of GOH grafted waterborne polyurethane compound GOH-WPU were synthesised. The low temperature softness of GOH-WPU film is better than that of WPU. Through the contrast tests, it is found that the increase of the content of GOH in GOH-WPU can obviously improve the air permeability of bonded leather samples. The peel strength of leather products bonded by GOH-WPU can be higher than 4N/m which completely meets the product quality standard (based on GB/T 30779-2014).
