SLTC 2026 CONFERENCE 24TH-25TH APRIL – SAVE THE DATE
Abstract
Cattle pelts were tanned using both a chrome tanning agent and the Zr-Al-Ti complex tanning agent respectively. The flame resistance of crust leather and pelts were tested. The results showed that: The greatest flame resistance of the crust was for that tanned by Zr-Al-Ti complex tanning agent, second was chrome tanning and pelts were the worst. SEM and histological section observation revealed that: the fibre bundles of crust leather tanned by Zr-Al-Ti agent were the tightest, those of the chrome crust were placed second and the fibre bundles of pelts were very loose with many interstices.
