Abstract

The representatives of SATRA, BLC, Pittard-Garner, K. Shoemakers and Nene College, who serve on the SLTC Physical Tests Committee, agreed to their laboratories participation in this lastometer testing programme. SATRA arranged distribution of the samples to those involved, together with detailed instructions as to evaluation of end-point, which is slightly different to that observed when testing leather. Six batches (randomly coded α, β, γ, δ, ε and ξ) each of 24 lastometer test pieces were cut from known lines of warp and weft yarns of a quality PU-coated fabric, and four of these dispatched to the various laboratories. The remaining two batches were kept at SATRA for testing by different laboratory staff on separate machines.
