Biodiesel From Waste Pigskin Oil – A Two-Step Process
Abstract
This paper provides a general description of a new continuous biodiesel production process, where the transesterifcation reaction is promoted by two catalysts. The process has been applied on a laboratory scale. The acid value of waste pig oil was greater than 100mgKOH/g oil, but the acid value of biodiesel was less than 0.80mgKOH/g oil, and the ester conversion rate was more than 80 percent. The density, residual carbon contents, and acid value of biodiesel were met the performance standards of 0# diesel – standard road vehicle oil.
