SEM Studies on the Morphology of Grafted Casein Films
Abstract
Casein, which is used as a protein finish, was grafted with acrylonitrile and n-butyl methacrylate in order to reduce its hydrophilicity. Grafting was undertaken at various concentration levels of the binary mixture. The surface morphology of these grafted films was studied using scanning electron microscopy. The morphology of samples, stretched up to 10 and 20% levels, was also studied. The compatibility of the ungrafted polymer with that of grafted casein decreases when the concentration of the former is increased.
