Bates and Related Enzyme Products: A Review of the Approaches to Laboratory Estimation of Their Activity
Abstract
Present methods of assessing the activity of bates have been reviewed and assessed with a view to the development of procedures which enable the activity of alternative products to be compared in laboratory tests. The relevance of factors influencing the results obtained in laboratory tests to industrial application are also discussed. On balance the use of Hide Powder Azure (HPA) appears to have most potential for bate assay although the method currently used must be more accurately defined before it can become an “Official Method.”
