Microbiological testing of wet-blues protected with two biocides of different type has shown that moulds, yeasts and bacteria grow on them when non-collagenous organic substances are present. Multiple strains of Trichoderma, Penicillia, Aspergilla, Fusaria, Rhodotorula, Torulopsis, Candida and Pseudomonas were isolated and identified. Leather itself is shown to be an unfavourable nourishing medium for microorganisms. The presence of Pseudomonas bacteria and its significance is discussed.
