Use Of Alternative Energy Sources In Tanneries

Abstract

Rising prices of fossil fuels and growing environmental concern in society are leading governments to encourage energy efficiency in industry. The tannery industry uses large amounts of hot water, large amounts of heat for drying purposes and, finally, uses large amounts of electricity. In this paper a study of the possibilities of using alternative energy in tanneries is presented. Such sources are solar energy and co-generation.
