Reverse Reference Flow Injection Spectrophotometry for the Determination of Chromium(VI) Extracted from Leather by Artificial Perspiration

Abstract

Reverse reference flow injection analysis (r-FIA) is proposed to determine Chromium(VI) extracted from finished leather by artificial perspiration. The extraction of Chromium(VI) in leather and the decolouration of leather extract were investigated. Under the optimal conditions, the linear range of this method was 1-50μg/l; the detection limit was 0.62μg/l; the relative standard deviation (n = 10) for 10μg/l Chromium(VI) was 1.74%. For leather samples, the corresponding linear range of this method was 0.5-25mg/kg. This method is suitable for automatic and continuous analysis and gives satisfactory results when applied to the determination of Chromium(VI) extracted from finished leather by artificial perspiration.
