Abstract

Currently the measurement of leather compressibility can only be evaluated manually using a standard substance gauge. The parameter of leather compressibility will have an important influence on the aesthetic evaluation of the leather. Research was carried out which used a materials tester to compress the leather with a cylindrical probe. Various parameters that could influence the test method were investigated and the test method was optimised.
