Resolution Of Scatter Cockle On Pickled Pelts And Crust Leather After Treatment Of Lambs To Remove Lice
Abstract
Shower dipping with a diazinon-based product gave rapid and complete eradication of lice. The effect of treatment with a synthetic pyrethroid pour-on product was not as rapid or complete. Pickled pelts showed much less cockle within four weeks of either diazinon or synthetic pyrethroid treatment, but the residual effects of cockle on crust leather remained on some skins for at least 24 weeks after even the most effective treatment for lice.
