Influence Of Enzyme Concentration On Leather Waste Hydrolysis Kinetics

Abstract

In this article the influence of enzyme concentration on leather waste hydrolysis kinetics after liming has been examined. It has been discovered that speed of leather solubility increases by increasing enzyme concentration from 500 to 15000 units per gram of leather. Also, leather breakdown speed increases by increasing the substrate concentration.

Depending on parameters relating to breakdown of used leather waste under the influence of different enzyme concentrations, we have drawn conclusions that can point to possible optimal conditions of this process.

Leather waste breakdown yielded a water soluble hydrolysate, which can be concentrated on a vacuum evaporator and then dried in a stream of hot air until a fine flour that can be used for various commercial purposes is produced.
