Abstract

A method has been developed for determining the neutral, unsulphated oil present in commercial sulphated oils. Tests were carried out mainly on sulphated sperm oils. The method has good reproducibility and is quicker than most other procedures, making it suitable for routine examination of standard products. The neutral oil content of fatliquors significantly affects the adhesion of finishes.
