Abstract

Conventional methods of chamois production suffer from the long process time and the possibility of inconsistent results.A novel approach has been made to reduce the oxidation time for oil tanned leathers from 10 days to about an hour using enzyme as the oxidizing agent. Organoleptic assessment and analysis in comparison with conventional leathers, supports the viability of the system.
