Abstract

The first of a short series of articles dealing with the previously unrecorded history of the development of the Leather Trades’ Machinery industry in Leeds. The interrelationships between the various engineering companies and their close links with local tanners are discussed. This first article deals with 60 years of Thomas Haley and Co. from 1861 until their amalgamation with Turner Tanning Machinery Co. Ltd.
