Abstract
The final section of this series of articles dealing with the development of the Leather Trades’ Machinery industry in Leeds. The fourth specialist machinery manufacturer was started by William Farrar. A former manager of Thomas Haley and Co., Farrar started his company jointly with John Whitley a local businessman. Whitley in turn formed his own company at a time when many general engineering companies in the Leeds area had turned their attentions to the leather industry.
