With the advancement of science and technology and increasing industrialisation, more and more the waste produced by industry has entered the natural and ecological environment, especially with reference to the environmental pollution effects on freshwater rivers and their surroundings and this River ecological environment is gradually deteriorating. The development of the leather manufacturing industry as represented by shoe industry has caused serious damage to the environment. In order to explain the concept of green production based on the River ecological environment, the article compares the situation of River ecological environment and resource consumption in actual leather production based on Eco-indicator99 and CML2001 evaluation methods. The results show that both the Eco-indicator99 and CML2001 evaluation methods are helpful to evaluate and study the manufacturing process of leather products more completely and at the same time we are able to put forward measures to improve production.
