Influence of the Constitution of Leather Dyes on Their Dyeing Behaviour

Abstract

Pure aniline leather and lightly finished semi-aniline leather are finding increasing favour with consumers. Good general use properties and fashionable colours are in demand. Therefore the selection of dyes and the dyeing process itself are becoming more and more important. Dyes with excellent compatibility together with the possibility of computerized colour recipe prediction or even colour matching are making the dyeing process more economical. The relationship between dye constitution and dyeing properties has been studied and the results are presented below. The possibility of synthesizing specific dyes for optimum compatibility has been tested and verified in practice.
