Abstract
Regularities in the process of dyeing chrome-tanned leather have been demonstrated by means of rate of dyeing curves determined under a variety of conditions. The data have been replotted in terms of liE and an equation for a hyperbola. In both cases, reasonably straight lines result for most experiments. The transmission of dye through leather used as a membrane has also been followed and diffusion coefficients have been derived in two ways. C.T. Acid Orange 7 has a diffusion coeffi cient in chrome-tanned leather of 10-7/cm2/sec. at 60°c.
