Abstract

Currently there are no available standard methods to measure the “creep” and the “relaxation’’ of leather. In this paper a new method is proposed which allows determination of both parameters as well as the retained set or •‘bagginess”. The creep and the stress-relaxation phenomena quantify the visco-elastic character of leather and are related to handle and comfort characteristics.
