Abstract

The aim of this project was to compare conventional lime fleshing and green fleshing using a modified standard fleshing machine. In the second part of this project, the influence of the different fleshing systems on the wet processes was investigated.

The contents of this paper are part of the ‘Savewatertan’ CRAFT project (A new process for saving water and diminishing pollution in leather tanning [CRAFT Project -1999-71560 G1ST-CT-2002-50299] funded by the EU. Partners involved include Burkhardt MB GmbH, Heller-Leder GmbH & Co. KG, LGR and EUETII.
