Abstract
This work investigates leather properties which were evaluated using a factorial experiment design. A multicriteria statistical optimization method can be used in the case where material properties are estimated as the function of several parameters. The present experiments were realized according to a factorial design of 23. The relative humidity during conditioning the leather samples and the rate of tensile elongation were taken as independent variables. It was possible to establish the utility values just by determining a set of coefficients which will decide on a leather’s usefulness in a specific application and to assign to them their relative importance as well as the range of satisfactory values.
