Production and Properties of Plastic Collagen Leather
Abstract
In recent years we have developed in our National Research Institute for Shoe, Leather and Allied Industries (SVUK) a new man-made leather material containing a high proportion of collagen fibres. This semi-synthetic shoe upper leather is interesting not only by its qualitative and economic properties but also for its influence on the degree of utilisation of hide substance in tanneries as well as on leather production processes themselves. This material is tentatively called “Plastic Collagen Leather” and in Czech transcription it has been designated as “PKK”.
