Simultaneous Online Visible Detection Of Sulphide And Chloride In Tannery Effluent By Combination Of FIA And Low Pressure Ion Chromatography

Abstract

A simple, accurate, sensitive and selective combination of flow injection and low pressure ion chromatography catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric method for simultaneous determination of sulphide and chloride in tannery effluent is proposed in this paper. Firstly, sulphide and chloride are separated by low pressure ion chromatography, and then they respectively accelerate the reaction of indigo carmine and potassium bromate in acidic media with heating. The reaction solution was detected by the visible light detector at 610nm. Under the optimal conditions, the results of sulphide and chloride are separately as follows: the calibration graph was linear in the range of 0.15–5.00mgl–1 and 0.50–33.00mgl–1; the detection limit was 0.015mgl–1 and 0.042mgl–1; the relative standard deviation was 2.26% and 2.45% (n = 10); the retention time was 2.0 minutes and 7.2 minutes. This method is suitable for automatic and continuous analysis, and successfully applied to simultaneously determine the contents of sulphide and chloride in tannery effluent.
