Spectroscopy and Modelling: A New Generation in Leather Technology

Abstract

The possibility of using spectroscopy and modelling in leather technology is discussed. Results are given for making calibration models for prediction of chromium content in chromium liquor and for prediction of dye components in multi-component dye solutions. The chromium calibration model can be used for on-line monitoring and control of a tanning process. A description of the pilot tanning equipment used for small-scale trials is given.
