Abstract
Based on the structural features of Crocodylus niloticus raw hides, the operation points and considerations of each process in beamhouse, tanning and finishing operations are discussed in detail. Methods like multi-step degreasing, strong liming, oxidation-reduction bleaching were used to solve the problems in Crocodylus niloticus tanning, such as high fat content, cuticle cleaning, colour nonuniformity etc. The processing technology which can be applied to practical production of Crocodylus niloticus leather was devised. With the application of this technology, the finished leather was full, soft, and resilient, with high shrinkage temperature, uniform colour, meeting the requirements for bag leather.
