The Influence Of Fatliquor Concentration On Microwave Drying Kinetics
Abstract
In this paper we have examined how the concentration of the fatliquoring medium influences the microwave drying kinetics of leather. Chrome tanned and vegetable tanned leather was fatliquored with 3, 6, 9 and 12% fatliquor (synthetic suiphated sperm oil). Microwave drying was performed in a laboratory instrument with the power set to 435 W and the magnetron at 75% output. The results of the experiment were shown as the dependence of the moisture content x/kg/kg/ on the drying time t (mm). The results obtained approximated to the exponential model. The influence of the fatliquoring medium concentration on the drying speed curve was established.
