The Influence Of Speed Of Traverse Of The Jaws Of A Tensile Machine On Tile Results Of Tear Tests
Abstract
For certain types of upper leather the tear load found on the dynamometer in the determination of the tear strength by Method l.U.P./8 appears to be significantly affected by the speed of traverse of the jaws of the machine on inertia-free as well as on pendulum-type machines. In certain cases significant differences are found for measurements of thickness and tear loads by different laboratories.
