The Variation In The Mechanical Properties Of “Corfam”

Abstract

The behaviour of “corfam” on extension has been studied by methods previously developed for leather. The loads required to extend strips of “corfam” and layers of the components peeled from the strips have been obtained. As a consequence of the woven fabric layer the load required varies in a symmetricat manner with angle to the roll direction. Some anisotropy also arises from the non-woven fabric. The peel strength between layers is low. The properties vary little with position on the roll so that measurements at all angles in one position are representative of the whole roll.
