Abstract

Previous approaches to improve the selection or design of dyestuffs for use in mixtures for dyeing of leather have not succeeded in producing homogeneous ranges of compatible dyestuffs that can give intense dyeing with a high degree of fastness. In fact, it has been shown that the 3-colour system alone is not enough to cover all the shade spectrum. In this paper we show studies done in the development of a range that overcomes the above mentioned problems. The work begins with the use of theoretical methods as an approach to the study of the properties of the dyes before their synthesis and application. On this basis, new dyes were synthesised. The application results shows the ability of the new range to give almost all possible shades in deep, level dyeings with very high fastness.
