SLTC 2027 CONFERENCE 23rd-24th APRIL – SAVE THE DATE
Abstract
The finite resources of natural leather cannot meet the substantial market demand; hence, high-performance artificial leather has progressively become a focal point for market research and development. To understand the research hotspots, progress and trends in the field of artificial leather both domestically and internationally, this study analysed relevant literature published between 2010 and 2025. The analysis was conducted using CiteSpace visualisation software, based on the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection databases. The findings indicate that the annual publication volume in this field exhibits an overall upward trend, with particularly marked growth in international literature. Research efforts are centered around Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and Sichuan University, although collaborative networks between institutions and authors remain fragmented, suggesting room for strengthening cross-regional and interdisciplinary cooperation. Research hotspots centre on material system innovation, performance modification, process engineering and green sustainable technologies. The Chinese literature places greater emphasis on industrial applications and environmental policy responses, whereas the English literature focuses more on waste treatment and environmentally friendly technologies. Future efforts should strengthen international collaboration, promote interdisciplinary integration, and deepen research into green manufacturing and high-value circular utilisation to foster high-quality sustainable development in the artificial leather sector.
