Water Reclamation from Tannery Effluent

Abstract

The water reclamation plant (operated by a modern tannery in North Africa) received tanning effluent which had already been treated biologically. The technological system included chlorination, sand filtration, two-stage adsorption on activated carbon and reverse osmosis. The results of full scale technological investigations are presented in this paper. The system investigated yielded an effluent suitable for reuse in the beamhouse.
