Water sorption capacity of tanned, spun collagen fibres has been examined and compared with that of standard, tanned and acylated hide powders. Chromium, chromium-alumina, glutaraldehyde and combined tannages have been applied. In spite of that the applied tannages engage different functional groups-only small differences in water sorption capacity have been observed—these do not exceed 20% of total value.
